Ted Kooshian’s STANDARD ORBIT QUARTET is a group that performs Ted’s original compositions, as well as his unique arrangements of influential music from his past (the 1960’s to now!) – including TV themes, cartoon themes, pop tunes, etc. The quartet has been performing in the New York area since 2006. They have released two CD’s.
Ted Kooshian (piano, leader, arrangements) has been living and performing in New York City since 1987. He is a member of the Ed Palermo Big Band, and has performed with Aretha Franklin, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chuck Berry, and Sarah Brightman.
Jeff Lederer (saxophones) currently tours and records with the acclaimed jazz quartet of drummer Matt Wilson and with Salsa artist Jimmy Bosch. Jeff has also performed with the Mingus Big Band and Latin music legend Tito Puente.
Tom Hubbard (bass) has performed with Kenny Barron, Dewey Redman, Dannie Richmond, Joe Williams, Mose Allison, Chris Connor, and Freddy Cole. He is a noted arranger whose work has appeared on the recordings of Freddy Cole, George Mraz, Grover Washington, Jr., and more.
Warren Odze (drums) has a wealth of recording and performing experience with such artists as Judy Collins, Peter Allen, Barbara Cook, Morgana King, Chris Connor, Bobby Short, Astrud Gilberto, Dixie Carter, Johnny Hartman, Marian McPartland, Hank Jones, Zoot Sims, Milt Hinton, Tommy Tune, Bo Diddley, Gregory Hines, Peggy Lee, Petula Clark, Linda Eder, Dawn Upshaw and Kenny Rankin.
Scott Neumann (drums) has had experience touring with Anthony Cox, Makoto Ozone and Brother Jack McDuff and working with Grady Tate, Chris Potter, Joshua Redman and Kenny Barron. He has recorded with a host of artists including Kenny Werner, David Liebman, Eddie Gomez and Claudio Roditi.
